Selection Criteria


 

1. All Team Selections will be done on a mechanical basis except where an individual is eligible for relief (see point 7)

 

2. SCORES HISTORY

The KZNPSA Admin Officer will keep a record of the scores and current results and calculations as follows:
(i) Leagues and KZNCC competitions per Division (i.e. Open, Standard, Production and Classic).
(ii) League history per Division, (all Grades).
(iii) KZNCC to be treated as a league for calculating team selections.

 

3. SELECTION CRITERIA

Team members will be selected from his/her score history.
The best four (4) out of the last six (6) League shoots, totalled and divided by four (4) to arrive at an average percentage.
This calculation is Subject to relief being applied.

 

4. TEAMS

A Team consisting of a minimum of three (3) members may be selected for Nationals or similarly rated shoots.
The standard of team members and the interest of the Province must at all times be a determining factor in the selection of any team and shall be as follows:- to qualify for team selection, the member must obtain an average of 75% or more, calculated as in 3 above, of the top competitor in the relevant division, irrespective of whether the top competitor will be attending the specific match for which the selection is being done.

5. THE KZNPSA COUNCIL HOLDS THE CASTING DECISION IN TERMS OF TEAM SELECTIONS

 

6. PROVISIONAL TEAM SELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT

Teams that are selected will be Provisional and will be circulated to the Members for their perusal and to allow for any queries to be made prior to the final Teams being announced. The Administration Officer will advise Team Members of their selection.

 

7. RELIEF FOR A SHOOTER LACKING HISTORY

Relief may be applied for a shooter who lacks League history for selection to a KZN team. Relief is applied by calculating an average of the scores available in that Division.
Relief is applied only in cases of merit and is not automatic. Members eligible must apply to the Secretary, in writing.
There must be a history of at least two (2) shoot results, during the previous twelve (12) months.
The relief ceases if a further shoot, be it a League, KZNCC is missed.
A shooter can only enjoy relief once in a two (2) year cycle.

 

8. RELIEF FOR A SHOOTER LACKING HISTORY AS A RESULT OF A TRANSFER FROM ANOTHER PROVINCE OR DIVISION

If a shooter has transferred to KZN or has advised the KZNPSA Executive of his/her intention to change from one (1) Division to another (e.g. Open to Standard), the shooter may be selected for a KZN Team although he/she has no history as a result of the transfer or change of division, provided that he/she is eligible once two leagues have been shot.

Once relief is applied to a shooter on these grounds, thereafter he/she will be considered for selection. As per point 3.

 

9. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The amount of financial assistance paid to Team Members will be determined, based on the financial situation of the Association.

 

10. SHOTGUN AND RIFLE TEAMS

To qualify for team selection, the member must obtain an average of 75% or more, calculated as in 3 above, of the top competitor in the relevant division or category, irrespective of whether the top competitor will be attending the specific match for which the selection is being done. Provincial colours will be awarded to Team Members who have been selected for and competed in a minimum of 3 Rifle or 3 Shotgun Nationals.
